**College Football Signing Day: Top Recruits Make Key Decisions**
National Signing Day for college football began on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, and many top high school players made their official commitments. This day marks the beginning of the early signing period for the 2026 recruiting class. Recruits from across the United States signed letters of intent to play at top college programs.
This year’s top-rated quarterback, Jalen Simmons from Texas, committed to Alabama. Simmons had also considered offers from Georgia and Ohio State. His decision gives Alabama a strong start to their 2026 class. Another big name, wide receiver Marcus Jennings from California, surprised many by flipping his commitment from USC to Oregon. Jennings said he felt more comfortable with Oregon’s coaching staff.
Georgia also made headlines by signing five-star linebacker Tyler Dawson from Florida. Dawson was one of the top defensive players in the class and chose Georgia over LSU and Miami. Meanwhile, Ohio State continued its strong recruiting streak by landing offensive lineman Chris Tanaka from Hawaii.
There were some late surprises too. Running back Elijah Moore from North Carolina, who had been committed to Clemson since June, made a last-minute switch to Florida State. Moore cited changes in Clemson’s coaching staff as the reason for his decision. His choice could boost Florida State’s offensive hopes in future seasons.
Many schools used creative ways to announce their new recruits on social media. Videos, live streams, and even mascots joined in the celebrations. Coaches, families, and teammates shared messages of support and excitement.
This signing day is only part of the recruiting process. The regular signing period will continue into early next year. Schools still have time to add more players. But many major prospects have already made their choices clear.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State were leading in the recruiting rankings. The final rankings will depend on the next wave of signings and player development. Fans across the country are watching closely as college football teams prepare for the future.
