Michael and Susan Dell Pledge $6.25 Billion for Children’s Savings Accounts

**Michael and Susan Dell Pledge $6.25 Billion for Children’s Savings Accounts**

Michael and Susan Dell have announced a major donation to help support children’s financial futures in the United States. The couple revealed on Tuesday that they will donate $6.25 billion to create savings accounts for 25 million American children. Each child will receive $250 under the new initiative, which is called Invest America.

The plan is part of an effort to give children, especially those from low-income families, a stronger start in life. The Dell family hopes that by starting kids with a savings account, it can lead to more opportunities in education, home ownership, and starting small businesses in the future.

The $6.25 billion will come from the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation. The foundation was started by the Dell family in 1999 and focuses on health, education, and economic advancement. This is one of the largest private donations for children’s savings ever made in the U.S.

The program will begin in 2025 and will be managed by an independent, non-government group. Families will not need to apply. Children will be chosen based on information from the IRS and school records. The goal is to reach children from poorer families who may not already have any savings.

Michael Dell is the founder of Dell Technologies, one of the world’s top computer companies. He said the accounts are meant to give children “a shot at achieving the American dream.”

Under the Invest America plan, the $250 accounts can grow over time through investments. Families can also add more money. The accounts are designed to be used when the child turns 18, and the funds must be used for approved goals such as education, buying a home, or starting a business. The money cannot be used for everyday spending or non-approved purchases.

The Dell Foundation said it is also working with other donors and public groups to try to expand the program. They hope the idea will spread and help millions of children unlock new possibilities for their futures.
